Collaborative Consumption and Gamification Concept

Concept: My concept is that of a already popular application Tinder, however the twist is that employers can swipe right/left for potential candidates to be added into a short list, and then contacted for an interview. This style of swipe left/right is a form of gamification and makes finding employees fun and fast. https://www.behance.net/gallery/24727289/Perspective-Screens-Mock-Up-Free-PSD

Collaborative Consumption and Gamification

History of Commons and Sharing Economies The Commons   A milestone in the history of the commons is generally associated with the works of Garrett Hardin’s heavily cited essay “ The tragedy of the commons” (1968) through out the essay he speaks of the participants of a common having their own self interests at heart and as a result the long-term demise of the shared common.  Commons is defined as "a shared resource, which is co-owned and/or co-governed by its users and/or stakeholder communities, according to its rules and norms."    (Commons Transition, 2018) " Hardin’s conclusion in relation to this dilemma was that the commons should either be privatised into parcels of land, or ownership should be transferred to the government, which would then bear the responsibility for regulating use of the land."  (Bradley and Pargman, 2017) The 21st century's commons refer to the sharing economy which includes businesses such as uber, TaskRabbit where the pa...

Smart Everything: Machine Sensing and Awareness Concept

My Concept: For this topic I have come up with the concept of a smart dog collar which communicates to the owner through a smart phone app, sending notifications when it is time to feed your dog, or display statistics about your walks, how long, how many calories etc or when it is time for a walk or a treat. Allowing the user to personalise the experience by setting your dogs name through the app, so it is as if you are communicating with your dog. It can also allow for GPS tracking of your dog where-ever he is so you will not have to worry about ever losing him/her again. I believe the market is ready for something like this as I would personally use it after recently losing my dog, I can say it is not a pleasant experience, and using something like this will provide someone relatively new to owning a dog with a routine and discipline.  Concept App: Dog collar:

Smart Everything: Machine Sensing and Awareness

Smart Everything: Machine Sensing and Awareness Internet of Things: With the birth of the internet of things there has been a influx of smart machinery which is changing the ways we interact with every day objects and in turn shaping our futures. The internet of things is "The network of physical devices, vehicles, home appliances, and other items embedded with electronics, software, sensors, actuators, and connectivity which enables these things to connect, collect and exchange data." (En.wikipedia.org, 2018)  This applies to almost all technology and by connecting them they can communicate making our lives easier. However what implications will this have for our privacy with big data being collected by all our technology and appliances. (YouTube, 2018) Pervasive Computing: As a by product of the Internet of things comes Pervasive Computing which is described as by Margaret Rouse "Embedding computational capability (generally in the form of microprocesso...

Cybernetics and the Future of Humanity Concept

Idea: A digital interface to display lifespan in numerical form and also and offers an alternative to currency. RFID used to transfer currency. What interface solutions are needed? Cybernetic UI Who are we interfacing for? Regular people, General population. Do those users have limitations we must design for? - Amputees: they would not be able to use the interface. Solution: Robotic limbs - Blind: Unable to visually see the interface Solution: Brail What is the content? The future, personal data display of life span, currency. Installing and designing a cybernetic user interface, to display visually How do we deliver the information? Digitally through microchip/motherboard and LEDs Is it interactive? Yes, the user can interact with the interface, and view their caloric intake, heart rate, finance and more What previous solution exist? Microchip - Previously used to geo-locate dogs and contain information such as owner, address etc...

Cybernetics and the Future of Humanity

Cybernetics and the Future of Humanity what contribution creative technologists will make to the development of cybernetics   Science fiction has helped shaped our ideas of the future of humanity from movies such as I Robot , Blade Runner and various others and with the advancement of technology and cybernetics we are coming ever close to a future where cyborgs and artificial intelligence will become a part of our lives. A definition from MIT  helps understanding and explain what  cybernetics is; "linking biology and technology together in a cybernetic way—essentially ultimately combining humans and machines in a relatively permanent merger." (Kevin Warwick, 2018) The way in which Cybernetics will help shape our futures is currently in development, with the creation of AI robots there will be thinking robots with brains that are not that different from our own , however this will raise many ethical issues and debates, as there has always been a fear of t...

Industry 4.0 Concept

NEW CONCEPT:   FRONE My concept for the fourth industrial revolution consists of  autonomous  drones which deliver food to your door/back garden, it will work along side a mobile application where consumer can order their desired food from their desired  restaurant, this information is sent to both the nearest available drone and to the restaurant to prepare the order. After the exchange of this data and when the food is ready the restaurant will load it into the drone (which will either keep the food warm or cold) and then delivered to the consumer. Bare in mind the journey of your food can be tracked in real time. BRANDING Logo: Prototype:

Indusytry 4.0

Industry 4.0 There have been 4 stages of industrial revolution thus far, starting from Industry 1.0 up to Industry 4.0 which is a name given to the current trend of automation and data exchange in manufacturing technologies. These technologies include; cyber-physical systems, the Internet of things, cloud computing and cognitive computing. (Upload.wikimedia.org, 2018) The History of the Industry Industry 1.0:  Refers to the first industrial revolution and discovery of steam power within manufacturing. It was the first breakthrough in increasing human productivity and introduction to mass production of goods. Industry 2.0:  The seconds industrial revolution took place in the 19th century with the discovery of electricity and assembly line production, which introduced mass production. Henry Ford's innovation lead to the mass production of vehicles, and  many other products which aided in improving the quality of human life as well as reducing hu...
